If you can attend, please come!

Please mark your calendars for the OCSI Bazaar on March 16. There is a meeting for parents on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 1st from 3:15. It is in this meeting where each grade will pick a “booth” or a “corner” to lead. Please try to make this meeting if possible. I have never done the Bazaar before either so we will learn together!

I messed up on the Bible verse this week!!! I am SO sorry! Instead of Numbers, the correct book of the Bible is Joshua. I am so embarrassed for putting the wrong one! :) Please note the correction here. I will keep the same Bible verse this next week.

Bible Memory Verse (again)
“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Speech Day poems

Here are the copies of the Speech Day poems for your students to practice and memorize!

Group 1: Sergio, Riku, Alex, Masamu
Sea Animals

What do you see in the sea?
Animals moving free!
Snails and whales
Using their tails.
Seals and eels
Looking for meals.
Catfish, flatfish
Chasing fat fish.
What do you see in the sea?
Animals moving free!

-Meish Goldish

Group 2: Victor, Xavier, Makana, Anri
In the Beehive

Here is the beehive,
but where are the bees?
Hidden inside, where nobody sees.
Watch as they come out of their hive,
one, two, three bees,
four bee, five!

-Author Unknown

Group 3: Mishia, Melisa, Aubrey, Susan
Apples

Apples, apples, what a treat,
sweet and tart and good to eat.
Apples green and apples red,
hang from branches overhead,
and when they ripen,
down they drop,
so we can taste our apple crop!

-Helen H. Moore

Group 4: Min, Harumi, Ranon, Kokone
Why My Homework is Missing

Deep inside my wooden desk
Lurks a monster most grotesque.
It ate my pencil and my pen,
My composition book, and THEN
It started rattling
clattering
hissing.

And THAT is why my homework is missing.

-Douglas Florian

Group 5: Mitsuo, Jarin, Jayden, Haruki
Popcorn
(still to be decided)

Have fun memorizing!!!!

Spelling Bee

Thank you parents for your help in getting the first graders ready for the Spelling Bee. I apogolize that this was my first time doing a spelling bee so I was not entirely sure all the steps involved. There is so many things you learn from a first experience! So I apologize if I did not go through the process correctly. Even though, the students did a WONDERFUL job in our class spelling bee and they made me very proud. They were very serious and quiet and did their best! We went through a few rounds but I would like to announce the winners from my class!

Mitsuo Yamashiro
Min Choe
Kokone Kumazaki

our alternate student will be Sergio Rapallini

These students will represent 1.2 in the 1st and 2nd grade spelling bee on February 8th from 8:45-10:00am

Congratulations to everyone and especially the 1.2 winners!!!
